Zusammenfassung:	Certain polymethylbicyclo[4.3.0]non-9-en-7-ols, such as 2,2,6,7-tetramethylbicyclo[4.3.0]non-9-en-7-ol, are obtained by partial dehydration of corresponding polymethylbicyclo[4.3.0]nonan-1,7-diols, such as 2,2,6,7-tetramethylbicyclo[4.3.0]nonan-1,7-diol, a specific embodiment being the partial dehydration of this compound with a catalytic amount of p-toluenesulfonic acid in an inert organic solvent. The compounds obtained by this process are valuable odoriferous substances.
