| Zusammenfassung: | Article transfer and support apparatus comprises a carriage provided with article support means and mounted on a base for movement from a position in which a workpiece may be mounted on and removed from the carriage to a second position in which the article is engageable by a tool or the like. Driving means is provided for moving the carriage to and from its respective positions and speed control means acts on the carriage for retarding the acceleration of the carriage as it moves from either position to the other and for decelerating the carriage as it approaches either of the first or second positions. The carriage is mounted on the base by resilient bearing means which may be deformed upon engagement of the workpiece by the tool to avoid stressing of the bearings. |
