Zusammenfassung:	Heavy oils containing sulfur and at least 80 parts per million metals are simultaneously demetallized and desulfurized by contacting the oil under hydrogenation conditions with a catalyst composition comprising a Group VI-B metal and at least one Group VIII metal composited with alumina, said catalyst composition having an average pore diameter greater than 100 A units, from 10-40 percent of the total pore volume in macropores and from 60-90 percent of the total pore volume in micropores, and at least 80 percent of the micropore volume being in pores having a diameter of at least 100 A units.
