Zusammenfassung:Circinella muscae (Berlese et de Toni) nova typica coreanus (ATCC 20394) is cultured in a prepared medium containing, as inducers, lactose, raffinose and melibiose to produce, chiefly within the mycelia, an enzyme which has high alpha -galactosidase activity and weak invertase activity. The mycelia now containing the produced enzyme are added to a beet molasses including syrup or juice in the course of beet sugar production, so that the enzyme acts upon the raffinose contained in said beet molasses to decompose it into sucrose and galactose and consequently enhance the overall yield of sucrose.
