ADAPTOR TO ENABLE COATING MACHINE TO ACCOMMODATE SHOE SOLE OR THE LIKE OF IRREGULAR THICKNESS

For use in connection with an adhesive cement coating machine for combined sole-heel assemblages or like workpieces of irregular thickness, which coating machine has a lower applicator roll partially immersed in liquid cement and an upper feed roll journaled on a pivotal mounting for swinging toward and away from the applicator roll, an attachment is provided to enable workpieces of irregular thickness to advance between the rolls. The adaptor comprises a drum which is journaled on a second pivotal mounting carried by the first pivotal mounting, so that the inner surface of the drum is biased against the outer surface of the feed roll and the outer surface of the drum is biased toward the applicator roll and against a workpiece interposed between the applicator roll and the external surface of the drum.
