Zusammenfassung:A magnetic head for recording information on a track having a first width and playing back information from a track having a second smaller width which is adjusted by moving the end faces of the poleshoes of the head in the transverse direction relative to each other. The movement is preferably produced by means of, for example, an electrostrictive bending element the passive part of which is formed by a part of the head core.
