Zusammenfassung:	A method for producing photographic images by development of an exposed silver halide element at elevated temperature is provided wherein the development occurs in the presence of a nitrile compound selected from the group consisting of: (a) benzene compounds carrying at least 2 cyano groups, (b) pi -deficient heterocycles carrying at least 1 cyano group on the heterocyclic nucleus, and (c) compounds carrying at least one cyano group on an olefinic group, which correspond to the formula: wherein: R1 is a cyano group or a pi -deficient heterocycle, and R2 is an aryl group, a substituted aryl group, a heterocycle or a substituted heterocycle.
