Zusammenfassung:	A color separation system is provided for use in combination with a pattern recognition system which is particularly useful in blood cell analysis. The color separation means include filtering means for transmitting from a field having a plurality of patterns light in a plurality of spectral bands. Photomultiplier means are responsive to the filtering means for providing a pluarlity of electrical signals each of which varies in accordance with the light intensity in one of the spectral bands. The signals are utilized by the pattern recognition system and facilitate discrimination of predetermined patterns in the field.
