Zusammenfassung:	An apparatus for automatically generating normalized detail signals from a video signal. Detail signals representative of instantaneous variations in the luminance portion of the video signal are generated. A signal averaging means responsive to the magnitude of the detail signals is provided for generating a control level representative of the detail content of a relatively long duration of the video signal. A modulator responsive to the control level and to the detail signals produces the normalized detail signals.
