Zusammenfassung:	Light modulation apparatus or a light repeater directly modulates a light beam into light and comprises a light modulation element having a photoconductive effect and the Franz-Keldysh effect. When intensity modulated light is emitted to the light modulation element, the applied electric field in the light modulation element is controlled. Non-modulated light applied to the light modulation element undergoes intensity modulation due to the Franz-Keldysh effect related to the variations of the applied electric field.
