Zusammenfassung:1346351 Producing Mg(OH) 2 and chlorine electrolytically SALZDETFURTH A G 19 Aug 1971 [7 Dec 1970] 35935/71 Heading C7B In a method of producing Mg(OH) 2 and chlorine in a diaphragm cell with one or more vibrating, perforated double cathodes, the aqueous electrolyte contains MgCl 2 and alkali metal chloride with 5-150g/l MgCl 2 in the cathalyte and 5-280 g/l in the arolyte. The electrolyte contains at least 30g/l alkali metal chloride and some MgSO 4 may be added. The cathodes may be wire netting or louvred plates and are spaced up to 10mm from the diaphragm. The alkali metal chloride may be NaCl and/or KCl.
