Zusammenfassung: | 1,265,678. Pyridine bases. YAWATA CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. 15 April, 1969 [19 April, 1968], No. 18639/69. Heading C2C. Pyridine bases are prepared by reacting olefins with ammonia in the liquid phase at 100- 300 C. and a pressure of 20-100 kg./cm.2 gauge in the presence of a palladium compound. The efficiency of the catalyst may be increased by adding a copper (II) compound and having oxygen present in the reaction mixture. Suitable palladium compounds are, for example, palladium chloride, nitrate and sulphate and suitable copper compounds are cupric sulphate, phosphate, acetate and halides. The nature of the product can be varied by the addition of an organic compound to the reaction mixture. For example; if ethylene and ammonia are reacted together the product is mainly 2-methyl-5-ethylpyridine and α-picoline whereas if formaldehyde, paraformaldehyde, trioxane, methylene chloride, methylal, methanol, methylamine, chloroform, formic acid or formamide is present the product is mainly pyridine and #-picoline. |
