Zusammenfassung:	A surge protection device has been provided having a central ground electrode disposed midway between spaced terminal electrodes. The improvement includes a ground electrode having a central annular opening and line terminal electrodes axially disposed at opposite sides of the ground electrode, each line terminal electrode being formed with an annular boss extending partly within the opening of the ground electrode. Means including insulative spacers between electrodes forms an air tight cavity for gas in the vicinity of bosses and the annular opening of the electrodes for discharge of the surges through said cavity.
