Zusammenfassung:	A coating process wherein there is provided a wettable surface, particularly a paper sheet surface, and a coating solution of coacervate-forming materials in a state of incipient coacervation, wherein said coacervate-forming materials are capable of interacting to give a film-forming coacervate phase under the conditions that prevail at the surface to be coated and wherein said surface is contacted with said coating solution to cause the emergence from solution of the film-forming coacervate phase at said surface.
