Zusammenfassung:	Lead-acid batteries utilizing positive electrodes prepared from specific starting ingredients under critically specified conditions show improved properties in use. Such positive electrodes are prepared by oxidation of tetrabasic lead sulfate (4PbO.PbSO4) which in turn is prepared in accordance with certain critically specified steps. Improved properties include increased product yield, greater life, greater reproducibility in the chemical and physical properties of the product and a crystal morphology more suitable to battery operation.
