Zusammenfassung: | 1,253,500. Contraceptive method. SCHERING A.G. 19 April, 1968 [19 April, 1967], No. 1714/71. Divided out of 1,231,412. Heading A5B. A method of contraception comprises the administration to a human female, parenterally or by implantation, of a gestagen free from oestrogens in a dose as hereinafter defined in any single menstrual cycle. The gestagen dosage is defined as that having an effect on the cervical mucus which corresponds to that produced by 1 to 20 mg. of 19-nor-17α-hydroxy progesterone caproate when administered in the same way. The term "gestagen" refers to progestational hormones (progestogens or progestins) having a pituitary hypothalamic inhibiting action or which have such action only at a dose above the minimum dose which produces gestagenic action. Typical compounds are: progesterone; its 3-enol esters and 17α-hydroxy-deviations, the 17-esters of 6α- methyl-17α-hydroxy progesterone and 17α- ethynyl-18-homo-19-nor-testosterone and its esters. |
