Zusammenfassung:Hydrogenation catalysts are prepared by forming a complex from equimolar amounts of a platinum group metal halide, e.g. rhodium trichloride, and a pi -bonding aromatic ligand, e.g. aromatic hydrocarbons, alkyl-substituted aromatic quinones, aromatic carboxylic acids, aromatic amino acids, aromatic amino acid peptides and aromatic compounds exhibiting benzenoid-quinoid mesomerism. The complexes are reduced to catalytically active form either during or subsequent to formation.
