A photographic light-sensitive colour element having a support bearing a colour coupler containing silver halide emulsion layer contains in the emulsion or in a layer contiguous thereto (i) a water-soluble or aqueous alkali-soluble copolymer of vinyl alcohol and vinyl pyrrolidone having a monomer ratio of from 95/5 to 40/60, (ii) a hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate having a vinyl alcohol to acetate ratio in the range of from 95/5 to 70/30 and a polymerisation number from 400 to 2000 or (iii) a copolymer of vinyl alcohol and a vinyl alkyl ether wherein the alkyl groups have 1-4 carbons or of vinyl alcohol and acrylonitrile, the vinyl alcohol to vinyl ether or acrylonitrile ratio being in the range 95/5 to 30/70. The elements show reduced colour turbidity due to poor silver removal at the bleaching step. The coating composition for the emulsion or other layer is made by dispersing a coupler in a low-boiling solvent with aqueous gelatine and an aqueous copolymer solution.
