Zusammenfassung:	1-Substituted-5-nitroimidazole-2-carboxamides are prepared from a 1-substituted-5-nitroimidazole-2-carboxylic acid or acid chloride or from a 1-substituted-5-nitroimidazole-2-carboxylic acid gamma -lactone by reaction with an amine. The 1-substituted-5-nitroimidazole-2-carboxamides are useful in the treatment of histomoniasis and trichomoniasis.
