A racemic compound of the formula WHEREIN R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl, R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and the acyl radical of a hydrocarbon carboxylic acid containing one to 12 carbon atoms, inclusive, R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl, with the proviso that not more than one R2 can be methyl in a given side chain, R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and an alkyl radical containing from one to 12 carbon atoms, inclusive, R4 is an alkyl radical containing one to eight carbons, inclusive, N1 IS AN INTEGER SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF 0 AND 1, AND WHEN R3 is hydrogen the pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof.
