Each circuit comprises a memory into which data, and the result of an arithmetic operation on the data, for a plurality of axes to be controlled can be written or read out, a circuit for selecting the place in the memory for data relating to each axis and a multiplexing arithmetic circuit for carrying out the arithmetic operations for the plurality of axes. The pulse train output from the distributing circuit, responsive to the programmed position information, is controlled in dependence on the programmed feedrate and the resultant intermittent pulse trains for each controlled axis of movement of a machine are rendered free from rapid changes in frequency by the smoothing circuit.
