1340864 Variable resistors CTS CORP 22 Dec 1970 [22 Dec 1969] 60823/70 Heading H1S A rectilinear variable resistor has one or more resistance elements 17 connectable by contact members 32 on a slider 27 to conductive elements 19 carried on the base member 20 of the resistor housing, side members connected to the base member 20 being provided with channels 23, 24 into which fit runners 25, 26 on the slider 27. Each runner is provided with projections 29, 30 to reduce twisting or rocking of the slider 27. The side members 21 are integral with and are bent up from the base member 20 which is grooved to facilitate this. The side and base members may be made from rubber, nylon or polychlorotrifluoroethylene and are enclosed in an outer metal casing 12. In an alternative arrangement the resistive and conductive elements may all be attached to the bottoms insulating surface and the wipers constructed accordingly.
