1281155 Apparatus for operating rail vehicle doors W M JAEKLE P V GARIN W E THOMFORD W M GREB N N UDALOFF and D W BULLOCH 30 July 1970 [14 Aug 1969] 36981/70 Heading B7L Apparatus for opening and closing rail vehicle doors 12, pivoted about their lower edges, comprises an arch 20 adapted to straddle the vehicle and mounted on rails 25, 27, each leg 24, 26 of the arch being provided with rails on which run carriages 34, 58 having depending arms 42, 44 which are adapted to engage with apertures in the upper edges of the doors for opening or closing as the carriages run down or up the arch respectively. The carriages are actuated by cables 60, 62 controlled by a motor 64. The arms may be moved between their in-use and out-ofuse positions by a jack 50 mounted on each carriage and engaging with the arms by means of pivoted levers 52, 56.
