A refractory brick batch comprises 85-95% -6 Al 2 O 3 , 5-15% -200 SiO 2 , 0À05 to 0À20% LiF and/or Li 2 CO 3, 0À01-0À30% of at least one other compound i.e. Ca(OH) 2 , Mg(OH) 2 or iron oxide, with optionally less than 5% of refracting clay or 0À05-1% of a lignosulphonate, and 1-4% of H 3 PO 4 . The total Li and other compound should not exceed 0À3%.
