Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,245,784. Reductive amminatian catalysts. HENKEL & CIE G.m.b.H. 6 Dec., 1968 [7 Dec., 1967], No. 57942/68. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C2] Oxidic Zn-Al or Zn-Cr catalysts in lump form are used in a process for the preparation of N-methyl-amines wherein a mono- or dicarboxylic acid, which does not form an internal anhydride under the reaction conditions, is hydrogenated at 200-400 ‹C and 50-400 atmospheres pressure in the presence of an excess of mono- and/or dimethylamine or of methanol and ammonia from which said amines may be formed. The catalysts used in the Examples are prepared (a) by mixing pulverulent ZnO and Al(OH) 3 in water to give a paste which is dried, ground mixed with graphite and moulded into tablets and (b) by mixing ZnO and Cr 2 O 3 in water to a paste which is dried, ground, mixed with graphite and moulded into tablets, then reduced with H 2 .
