Aqueous dispersions comprise an emulsifiable oxidized polyethylene, a fatty acid of at least 12 carbon atoms, an emulsifying agent which is an amine, and a water-soluble bisulphite salt. Specified fatty acids are oleic, linoleic, linolenic, lauric, palmitic and stearic acids. Specified amines are morpholine, ethylene diamine, ethanol diamine, dimethyl ethanolamine, triethanolamine, methoxypropylamine, and 2- amino - 2 - methyl - 1 - propanol. Specified bisulphites are ammonium, sodium and potassium bisulphites. Examples describe compositions comprising oxidized polyethylene emulsified with oleic acid and methoxypropylamine, with and without ammonium bisulphite. The dispersions are useful in polishes, textile finishes and paper coatings.
