In a blade having countersunk portions such as is used in machines for producing sausage mixture, the edge is chamfered so as to form a continuous non-indented edge. In a typical embodiment the countersunk portions are in the forms of grooves 4 and a chamfer 2 is ground on the groved face to form a cutting edge 3. In a second embodiment the main chamfer is on the opposite face to the grooves and a subsidiary chamfer is provided on the grooved side to remove indentations from the cutting edge. In another embodiment wide radial countersunk portions are provided.
