[Also in Division H1] A three position lever switch with "central off" has pawl catches L, R Fig. 4 which permit a switch operating part LT to move to operate the switch to one position but drop or rise to interfere with the return movement of the part LT at its off position and prevent immediate changeover by inserting a projection as LC between the part LT and a fixed stop LA of the casing. The catches L or R are released only after hand pressure has been removed from the actuator. As appears from Fig. 4 movement to the right of operating part LT, cams catch L upwards at its right hand end to move it clear of pivot LX to an upper pivot point LW whereby an overcentre compression spring LS moves the latch L and projection LC downwards. On reverse (right to left) movement of the operating member LT continued movement beyond the central position is prevented by stop LA and latch LC. The latch L is however moved sufficiently to be engaged with its lower pivot LX whereby release of hand pressure on the member LT allows spring LS to raise the latch L and free the member LT for continued movement to the left. The second lower latch R is symmetrical to latch L and interrupts the continued left to right movement.
