[Also in Divisions C1, C2, C5 and D1] Compounds of the general formula wherein one of the radicals R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 represents a chlorine atom and the remaining radicals represent H or Cl, are used as sterilising agents. The compounds may be employed alone, in the form of solutions in organic solvents, or in association with detergents. Specificed applications are in the sterilisation of water and the sterilisation of tableware during washing.
