Zusammenfassung:1,190,994. Welding by fusion. KOBE STEEL Ltd. 7 July, 1967 [8 July, 1966], No. 31407/67. Heading B3R. [Also in Division C7] In an arc welding electrode having a steel casing containing a powder filling constituting 10-40% of the electrode, at least 30% of the powder comprises by total weight of the powder: 10-60% fluoride of at least one alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, rare earth metal, aluminium or titanium 6-25% carbonate of at least one alkali metal or alkaline earth metal 5-50% denitrodizing agent selected from Mg, Al, Zr or alloys thereof, the denitrodizing agent being at least 10% when adequate deoxidizers are not included in the powder. Up to half of the denitrodizing agent may be replaced by Mn or Si. The fluoride is preferably 30-60% CaF 2 or 30-55% CaF 2 and 5% AlF 3 . The carbonates are preferably magnesium or calcium. The agent may be a ferro-alloy or an alloy such as Al-Mg, Ca-Si-Al, Ca-Si-Zr. Other constituents referred to are Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo, B, C, V, W, Fe, Si, SiO 2 , ZrO 2 , A1 2 O 3 , MgO, MnO, MnO 2 , K 2 O, Na 2 O and CaO, Specified powder compositions are in percentages by weight: The casing of the electrode may be in the form of a tube with a longitudinal lapped seam or of complex forms such as shown in Figs. 2, 4 or 5 providing two or more cavities, 4, 4; 7, 8 or 12, 13, filled with powder. The denitrodizing agent is preferably concentrated in the inner cavity where such exists.
