Zusammenfassung: | 1,206,858. Mounting magnetic heads. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. 15 Oct., 1968 [2 Nov., 1967], No. 48724/68. Heading G5R. A flying head assembly includes a head unit 28 spring-biased 38 towards a record surface 10 and a flying pad 32 having an inclined leading edge 34 and extending forwardly of the unit 28 on a cantilever portion 30. Several head units and pads are mounted in each of six frames 54 co-operating with both sides of three magnetic discs. The springs 38 extend from a rod 40 axially adjustable by means of screw 68 and clamp 72 and rotatably biased by spring 62 coupled between the frame at 64 and a lever 61 fixed to the rod 40. Rods (84, 86, Figs. 4-8, not shown) have studs (80, 82) engaging in notches 76, (78) in the levers 61 to move the heads towards and away from the discs when they are moved vertically by a follower (98) riding on a cam surface (100) at the base of a turret carrying the head mounting and positioning mechanism (22) so that the heads are automatically disengaged when the head assembly is rotated away from the discs. The frames 54 also carry circuit cards 99. |
