CABLE CONNECTOR

A screened multi-core cable connector plug 10 comprises pins 29 retained in an insulating insert 26, for connecting the inner conductor lines, and an outer conductor which includes a metal shell 16, around which is secured, preferably by welding, a band element 38 comprising at least ten axially-extending spring fingers 36. The free ends of said fingers are biased radially outward, their movement in this direction being restricted by an inclined shoulder 54 on the shell 16. A tubular shell 30 on the counterpart socket connector 12 telescopes with the first part and makes contact with bowed portions 42 of the spring fingers, whose number and bias ensure good contact. The shell 16 is provided with keys (56) which fit in grooves (58) in the tubular shell 30 to ensure correct orientation of the connector halves (Fig. 2, not shown).
