Zusammenfassung: | 1,146,401. Air-cushion vehicles. T. M. GRIFFITHS. 31 March, 1967, No. 14913/67. Heading B7K. [Also in Division Al] In a rotary-scythe lawnmover having a body 1 containing a fan 17 producing an air-cushion which supports the mower above the ground, the fan is mounted above the motor 10 so that the air-cushion is produced by air which has passed over the cooling fins 12 of the motor and is thereby heated. The motor and blower are mounted in a housing 3 secured to the body I and closed except for an air-intake at the top and an outlet to the body at the bottom. Air for the carburetter 14 is supplied through a conduit 24 from an air-filter mounted on the mower-handles (not shown). Exhaust gases pass into the body 1 through a pipe 13. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), the air-filter is mounted directly on the carburetter within the housing so that combustion-air is also supplied by the blower 17. The vertical drive-shaft 11 of the motor is extended both above and below it, the upward extension carrying the fan 17 and the downward extension carrying the blade 16. The sparking plug 21 is surrounded by an airtight flexible shroud 22 where it passes through the housing 3 for connection to a magneto 18. |
