Zusammenfassung:The fastness to gas fading of dyeings and plastics is improved by treating them with a water soluble piperizine of formula in which R1 is an alkyl or alkenyl group of 6-18 carbon atoms, an unsubstituted cycloalkyl group of 6-18 carbon atoms or a mono-nuclear aryl or aralkyl group the ring of which may be substituted by non-colouring or non-ionogenic substituents. R2 is hydrogen, hydroxy, amino, mono- or dilower alkylamino, an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or a said alkyl group substituted by hydroxyl, alkoxy, cyano, amino, alkylamino, hydroxyalkylamino or heterocyclic nitrogen ring substituted amino groups. The materials may be treated with an aqueous solution of the piperazine compound or the compound may be incorporated in the materials at a spinning stage.
