Zusammenfassung:1,195,452. Coating compositions. UNION CARBIDE CORP. 2 Feb., 1968 [3 Feb., 1967]. No. 5483/68. Heading C3P. [Also in Division B2] A coating composition comprises (a) 90-10% by weight of a terpolymer of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate and glycidyl acrylate or methacrylate, (b) 10-90% of a terpolymer of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate and one of vinyl alcohol, acrylic acid, methacrylic acid and maleic acid and (c) 0À1-3% based on (a) and (b) of a catalytic curing agent, e.g. triethanolamine borate, a boron trifluoride complex with ethylamine, diethylamine, or piperidine, tri-(2-ethylhexoic acid) salt of tri-dimethylamine methyl phenol, benzyldimethylamine, sodium or potassium hydroxide, maleic acid, phosphoric acid, stannous octoate, tetrabutyl titanate, or uranyl nitrite or butyrate. The composition is dissolved in a ketone or an aromatic hydrocarbon/ketone mixture, propylene carbonate, nitroethane, dichlorobenzene, bromonaphthalene, or ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, applied to a substrate and cured by heating at 250-500‹ F. for 1-30 minutes or up to 60 minutes if a heat stabilizer, e.g. tin mercaptide, is present.
