Zusammenfassung:1,141,189. Balancing. BRIGGS & STRATTON CORP. Nov.30, 1967 [Sept.6, 1967], No.54628/67 Heading F1M. A reciprocating machine has counterbalancing means for moving parts of the machine, the counterbalancing means comprising a movable counterbalance mass 23 at the side of the crankshaft remote from the cylinder, a journal on the crank-shaft having its axis eccentric to that of the crank-shaft and means 26 connecting the counterbalance mass with the journal and link means 24 connecting the counterbalance mass with a fixed part on the body and extending generally transversely to the cylinder axis so as to contain the counterbalance mass to crank-shaft imported motion in directions substantially parallel to the cylinder axis. As shown the link means comprises a rigid arm 24 having one of its ends pivotally connected to the counterbalance mass and its other end pivotally connected to the crank-case. There may be two journals one axially outwardly adjacent to each crank-arm and means connecting the counterbalance mass with the journals comprising a pair of rigid arms. The crank-arms 18 extend diametrically across the crank-shaft axis to the side thereof opposite the crank-pin where each is formed with an elargement or mass that provides a counterweight 21. The invention is applicable to internal-combustion engines or a reciprocating compressor or pump.
