Zusammenfassung:1,187,554. Controlling vehicles. EATON YALE & TOWNE Inc. 11 March, 1968 [27 April, 1967], No. 11692/68. Heading B7H. [Also in Division F2] In an earth-working vehicle having a shovel or bucket operated by hydraulic rams controlled by a lever 11 and a transmission controlled hydraulically by a valve 16 yieldingly held in positions for forward travel, neutral and reverse travel by a spring-loaded detent 17, power means are provided for operating the valve in one direction, a manually operated device being mounted on the lever 11 for actuating the power means. The valve 16 may be manually controlled from a lever 9 located on the steering wheel, through links 12, 13, 15 and bell crank 14. In its extreme right-hand position, in which the valve 16 is set for reverse travel, the bell crank 14 contacts the rod 23 of a piston 19 acted upon on one side by a spring 20 and on the other by compressed air from a source 29 controlled by a valve 26 located in the lever 11. The valve 26 which is urged upwardly by a spring 32 and may be moved downwardly by a push button 25, has two positions. In the position shown the supply of compressed air is cut off and the cylinder 21 is opened to exhaust through a passage 31. When the valve 26 is moved downwardly, the passage 31 is closed and compressed air passes through a passage 33 to act on the piston 19 so as to move the transmission valve 16 from reverse to forward travel. The arrangement enables the operator to change the direction of travel at the same time as controlling the implement with the lever 11.
