C. engine with a hydraulic converter 2 in the drive and two pumps 9, 10, in the engine lubricating oil circuit, the converter is supplied with oil by one of the engine lubricant pumps. The pump 9 supplies oil from the tank 15 to the engine lubrication system and the pump 10 returns oil from the sump 16 to tank 15 through a pipe 18 and filter 22. The converter supply circuit is branched off from pipe 18 and excess fluid returns to tank 15 through pipe 20 with throttling orifice 19.
