Zusammenfassung:	A substrate for use in determining blood cholinesterase activity comprises a solution of an acetylcholine salt in an anhydrous neutral organic solvent which is dioxane or a polyhydric alcohol, for example ethylene glycol. The solution may be prepared by adding sodium sulphate and calcium carbonate to ethylene glycol, decanting off the solvent, and dissolving the acetylcholine salt in it. The salt may be acetylcholine chloride; also mentioned are the bromide, iodide and perchlorate. There is mention of propylene glycol as solvent.
