Zusammenfassung: | 1,116516. Discharge lamps. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. 25 Oct., 1965 [12 Nov., 1964], No. 45035/65. Heading H1D. In a high-pressure, high-current discharge lamp having an electrode anchored in an outwardly extending end arm of the envelope and projecting into a bulbous portion, the leadin assembly for the electrode includes a plurality of spaced longitudinally extending refractory metal conductors hermetically sealed within the end portion of the envelope with their inner ends projecting laterally inward toward the axis, the coupling between the conductor ends and the electrode including a refractory metal member in mechanical contact with the elec - trode to provide a stress-relieving electrical connection therewith. In a mercury or xenon lamp having electrodes 9, Figs. 1 and 2 projecting from a pair of arms 7, 8 into a central spherical chamber 6, the arms are collapsed about vitreous sleeves 5 which are sealed to the electrodes 9 wrapped in molybdenum foil 11, and a circumferentially spaced array of molybdenum ribbons 10 are embedded within the arm wall, with their inner ends extending radially inwards and clamped between welded centrally-apertured, molybdenum discs 14 and 15. A bolt 17, passing through discs 14 and 15 engages in a threaded recess in the electrode 9, a third, free, molybdenum disc 16 being interposed to allow for thermal strains. To the outer ends of the ribbons 10 are welded molybdenum tabs 18 which are bent around a ring 19 and soldered between that ring and a disc 20 which is engageable by a terminal 23. |
