[Also in Division F1] A catalytic heating unit for a pressurized aerosol dispensing container 1 has a body portion 4 mounted on the container and a portion 13 rotatably and axially movable on portion 4, fuel vapour from a source F, e.g. jellied methanol, reacting with air entering through ports 27, 28 on a catalytic surface C, e.g. platinum, and heat produced by the reaction being transmitted to the discharged contents of the container passing through a constricted passage 24 in a cylinder 23, e.g. of aluminium, when housing portion 13 is depressed to actuate the container valve stem 3. The air inlet ports 27, 28.in body portion 13 are movable into or out of communication with ports 25, 26 in body portion 4, to start and stop the catalytic reaction, by rotation of portion 13, stop means 33, 34 being provided. Ports 27 are larger than ports 28 so that reaction products pass through ports 27 to draw air through ports 28. Insulating members 21, 22 connect heated cylinder 23 to the valve stem 3 and discharge conduit 17.
