Process for dyeing textile materials in an aqueous bath containing a dyestuff in the presence of a trifunctional triazine

The invention comprises symmetrical triazine compounds of the formula wherein R is H or 1-3 C alkyl, A is aliphatic, aromatic, araliphatic or cyclo-aliphatic, Z is an anion-active group, e.g. -SO3Y, -OSO3Y, -COOY or -SO2-CH2CH2-OSO3Y, where Y is H or a cation, e.g. K, and n is 1, 2 or 3. Preferably...

Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:The invention comprises symmetrical triazine compounds of the formula wherein R is H or 1-3 C alkyl, A is aliphatic, aromatic, araliphatic or cyclo-aliphatic, Z is an anion-active group, e.g. -SO3Y, -OSO3Y, -COOY or -SO2-CH2CH2-OSO3Y, where Y is H or a cation, e.g. K, and n is 1, 2 or 3. Preferably R is H, A is a 1-4 C alkylene or alternatively a phenylene or naphthylene which may be substituted with nitro, amino, alkyl, alkoxy and/or halogen. The compounds may be prepared by reacting cyanuric chloride with an amine R-NH-A-(Z)n at 0-100 DEG C. while neutralizing the liberated HCl and in the case when Z is -SO2-CH2CH2-OSO3H employing as amine aminobenzene-b -hydroxyethyl sulphone and subsequently esterfying. A number of compounds are specified in the examples.ALSO:Condensation products of (a) melamine, formaldehyde and an adduct of 8-80 mols. ethylene oxide and 1 mol. triethanolamine and (b) formaldehyde and an adduct of 8-50 mols. ethylene oxide and 1 mol. of a mixture of an aromatic amine, e.g. aniline, and a phenol and, optionally, a low alkanolamine, e.g. triethanolamine, as well as the quaternization products of (a) or (b), e.g. with dimethyl sulphate are employed in dyeing compositions as cationic surfactants. In Example (3) condensation products are obtained from (a) 6 mols. HCHO, 1 mol. melamine and 1 mol. of the adduct of 30 mols. ethylene oxide and 1 mol. triethanolamine quaternized with dimethyl sulphate and (b) the adduct of 14 mols. ethylene oxide and 1 mol. aniline, phenol, HCHO, subsequently quaternizing with dimethyl sulphate.ALSO:Level dyeings on textiles of synthetic polyamides are obtained in an aqueous dyebath in the presence of a colourless compound of the formula: wherein R is H or an alkyl radical of 1-3 carbon atoms, A is an aliphatic, aromatic, araliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical, Z is -SO3Y, -OSO3Y, -COOY or -SO2CH2CH2OSO3 Y, Y being H or a salt forming cation, n is 1, 2 or 3 and X is a halogen or preferably the group Preferably R is H and A is an alkylene radical of 1-4 carbon atoms or a phenylene or naphthaylene radical both of which may be substituted with one or more nitro, amino, low alkyl or alkoxy groups or halogen atoms. The dyebath may also contain a weakly cation-active complex-forming agent which may be, for example, an addition product of alkylene oxide to an alkylamine containing at least one alkyl of 8-18 C or a polyalkylene polamine, a condensation p
