Zusammenfassung: | Polymers of vinyl chloride containing more than 50% by weight of polymerized vinyl chloride are plasticized with a polymer of an alkyl b -vinylpropionate. The plasticizer may be a homopolymer or copolymer of a b -vinyl-propionate with ethylene, ethyl acrylate, diethyl fumarate, dibutyl fumarate or diethyl maleate. In examples ethyl b -vinylpropionate is polymerized in the presence of (1) t.-butyl peracetate and (2) diisobutylene ozonide, and copolymerized with (3) ethyl acrylate in the presence of t.-butyl peracetate and (4) ethylene in the presence of di-t.-butyl peroxide in hexane. The resulting polymers are compounded with polyvinyl chloride in comparison with conventional polyester and dioctyl phthalate plasticizers. The compositions have good electrical properties. |
