Mold clamping devices

A clamping device for use in grinding, milling or casting comprises a jaw 56 carrying a plunger 57 movable in a recess and an expansible member 61 for moving the plunger, a gasket 54 being interposed between the member and the plunger. The workholding clamp 50, Fig. 1, may have adjustable frame parts 51, 52. The gasket 54 of rubberimpregnated nylon, together with metal end-caps, prevents rupturing of the bladder 61. Springs urge the jaw 56 to released position. In a modification, four parts of a continuous casting mould 11, Fig. 4, are held together by fluid pressure in bladders 32. The mould has cooling-passages 17. The parts are supported in a member 23 by keys 26, the member 23 being supported by girders 25. The mould parts are able to move relatively to each other to allow for temperature fluctuations.
