Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:902,641. Yankee dryer drums of papermaking machines. KIMBERLY-CLARK CORPORATION. Nov. 24, 1958 [Nov. 29, 1957], No. 37756/58. Class 96. The shell 4 of a Yankee dryer drum of a paper-making machine is formed of plates, e.g. rolled plates, of steel, aluminium, or bronze, welded together, and so shaped that all weld seams lie at an angle with respect to the axis of the drum, e.g. greater than 5 degrees, 30 to 60 degrees being mentioned. The arrangement avoids chattering of a doctor blade 31, improves balance, gives uniformity of wear and internal stress and reduces distortion. The shell may be constructed by welding together pairs of similar trapezium-shaped plates 43, 44, Fig. 5, along their short sides 45 to form parallelogram-shaped plates 46 and then welding these together along their long sides 47. In a modification, Fig. 8, the shell is formed of rings 49 and wedge-shaped end-portions 50. A hood provided with hot air inlets and outlets may cover the upper part of the drum.
