Glumamycin and production thereof
Relates to a new antibiotic glumamycin which is a colourless crystalline powder decomposing at 230 DEG C., having a specific rotation of a 20D = +8 DEG (c = 2%, in ethanol), showing maximum infra-red absorption at wavelengths of 3.0, 3.4, 5.7, 6.0, 6.5, 6.9, 7.2 and 8.2m , having a molecular formula...

Zusammenfassung: | Relates to a new antibiotic glumamycin which is a colourless crystalline powder decomposing at 230 DEG C., having a specific rotation of a 20D = +8 DEG (c = 2%, in ethanol), showing maximum infra-red absorption at wavelengths of 3.0, 3.4, 5.7, 6.0, 6.5, 6.9, 7.2 and 8.2m , having a molecular formula C58H99O20N13, and giving by hydrolysis one mole of 3-iso-tridecenoic acid, four moles of the sum of L-aspartic acid and L-threo-b -methylaspartic acid, two moles each of glycine and D-erythro a ,b -diaminobutyric acid and one mole each of L-valine, L-proline and D-pipecolic acid. Glumamycin may be produced by cultivating Streptomyces zaomyceticus A.T.C.C. 13876 or a glumamycinproducing natural or induced mutant or variant thereof, in an aqueous medium containing nutrient, under aerobic conditions until antibacterial activity is imparted to the resultant broth, and then recovering the so-produced glumamycin from the broth, e.g. by solvent extraction, adsorption chromatography, partition chromatography, countercurrent distribution or salting out. |
