Tobacco metering apparatus includes a fan picker roller 104 having outwardly extending spaced longitudinal vanes 120 and pins 116 outwardly extending from the vanes, and a concave guide surface surrounding at least a portion of and concentric with the pins. The vanes 120 and pins 116 are disposed in skewed rows on the roller 104. The metering apparatus generally is the same as described in Specification 958,236.
