An electric motor is provided with one or two grinding wheels 27, 28 each mounted at one or both ends of the rotor spindle, the spindle and bearing being insulated from the A.C. motor field power supply, and the grinding wheels connected to a D.C. supply applied to the spindle between the two bearings. The end bells 2, 3 are insulated from the casing 4 by insulating rings 5,10, and the bearing 19 is provided with an insulating sleeve 21. A slip ring 31 mounted between the two bearings is provided with three brush units disposed radially, of the type shown at 33 which are spring-loaded and connected to a D.C. source, at negative potential, the positive terminal is connected to the workpiece. |
