The yarn package holder comprises a plurality of fingers 14 pivotally mounted in slots 9 in a hub member 1, the pivoted mounting for each finger 14 being a lug 15, Fig. 2, projecting from the finger and resting in a groove 12 formed in one of the side faces of the shot 9. Each finger includes a lug 16 below the member 1 that prevents accidental withdrawal of the lug 15 from the groove 12 whilst the member 1 is mounted on a supporting rod 3. The holder may be associated with a tufting machine.
