[Also in Groups XXV and XXXIV] Conveyer belts are reinforced by metallic cables or cords having a minimum stretch of 6% at rupture and formed of strands twisted together with a clearance between strands and in such manner that the cable is inert, i.e. it displays no tendency to untwist. The cables may be in any of three forms: (A) coreless cables of multiple wire strands twisted round each other into a permanent helical form; (B) coreless cables from which a core has been extracted; (C) cables with an extensible core formed, e.g. of cotton, rayon, nylon or other synthetic fibre, or another extensible metallic cable.
